Sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), also known as sodium laurilsulfate or sodium dodecyl sulfate, is an anionic surfactant commonly used as an emulsifying cleaning agent in household cleaning products (laundry detergents, spray cleaners, and dishwasher detergents).
A colorless crystalline sulfate of sodium Na2SO410H2Oused especially in dyeing, as a cathartic, and in solar energy systems sometimes used in plural. Sodium sulfate is an important compound of sodium. When anhydrous, it is a white crystalline solid of formulaNa2SO4. The deca hydrate, Na2SO410H2O, is known as Glauber's salt. Sodium sulfate is mainly used for the manufacture of detergents and in the Kraft process of paper pulping, although it has many other uses.
