What Is Spray Drying?Spray drying can be defined as the conversion of feed from a fluid Form into dried particulate state by scattering the feed into hot drying system. It is a constant particle-processing drying procedure. The feed is usually suspension, emulsion, solution, dispersion, or slip. The product that has to be dried is in the form of granules, agglomerates, or powders majorly depending on the chemical as well as physical properties of the feed, desired final powder properties and the dryer design.   • Feed is delicately atomized and placed into the drying chamber with hot air.
  • The blend of hot air and atomized feed moves in the direction of the air exhaust of drying chamber.
  • The time taken by the mixture to pass through up to air exhaust is termed as residence time of drying. Throughout this residence duration, the feed droplets lose their moisture to the hot air and are transformed into dry powder particles.
  • Hot air soaks this moisture, so its complete humidity rises while the temperature is lowered. The feed droplets while losing their moisture to hot air stay at temperatures much below the hot air temperature and are exposed to hot air for relatively short time.
Therefore, spray drying is basically known as "Low Temperature Drying". The temperature of feed droplet is generally termed as the wet bulb temperature at the existing humidity. Basically Suited
