About Amritsar
Amritsar, with its name derived from the “Amrit Sarovar” meaning the “pool of nectar”, has a blessed status owing to the venerable Golden Temple located right in its heart. Founded in 1577 by Ram Das, the 4th Sikh guru, the city is known to be the center of Sikhism. Besides, the historic sights of the ghastly Jallianwala Bagh or the patriotic Indo-Pakistan border crossing at Wagah can be seen in this city.
