quid Methylene Chloride, also known as Dichloromethane (DCM), is a clear, colorless, volatile liquid with a slightly sweet odor. It is a chlorinated hydrocarbon commonly used as a solvent due to its excellent solvency power and low boiling point (approximately 39.6C). Methylene Chloride is non-flammable under normal conditions and is widely used in industrial applications including paint stripping, pharmaceutical processing, metal cleaning, foam production, and as an extraction solvent in laboratories. It has high vapor pressure and evaporates quickly, making it suitable for fast-drying formulations. Though effective, it requires careful handling due to its potential health hazardsprolonged inhalation or skin contact should be avoided.
