The cured coating shall have the following diffusion co-efficient.

Directions for use :

  • Surface preparation : The surface to be coated must be clean and sound. Remove all traces of formwork, release agents, previous coatings, laitance and any other contaminants that may affect the bond adversely. Suitable cleaning methods include high pressure water jetting and grit blasting. Mechanical wire brushing may be appropriate for small areas. After the above surface preparation, surfaces must be thoroughly washed with clean potable water to remove all dust and loose particles. Spalled concrete should be cut back to sound concrete and made good with a suitable cementitious repair mortar such as Antique Non Shrink Crack Filler. Remix to restore the consistency. Do not mix more material than can be used in half an hour.

Do Not Re-temper with Water.

Application :

  • Always apply Antique Master Coat-550 to pre-dampened surface. High-suction substrates require more dampening then dense substrates. However, make sure there is no free-standing water. Apply by brush or broom. Mixed material must be used with in 30 -45 minutes, or less under hot weather conditions.
  • First Coat : Brush or broom the mix firmly onto the pre-dampened, prepared surface. Care must be taken not to spread the material too thinly. When the material begins to drag or “ball”, do not add more liquid/water but dampen the surface again.
  • Second Coat : Allow at least overnight to cure before applying subsequent coats. Dampen the first coat and remove excess moisture. Brush or broom the mix onto the surface (as above) finishing in the opposite direction to the first coat.
  • Antique Master Coat-550 can be spray applied but should afterwards be brushed well into the substrate to ensure proper adhesion. To avoid this apply first coat by brush and second by spray application. Finally finish with sponge to get a uniform aesthetic appearance.

Curing :

  • Under hot or excessive drying conditions fog-spray after the initial set has taken place for as long as practicable. In cold, humid or unventilated areas it may be necessary to leave the application for a longer time curing period or to introduce forced air movement. Never use dehumidifiers during curing periods.
  • Equipment Cleaning
  • Not hardened material may simply be removed with water.

Coverage :

  • Each square metre will require minimum of 0.9 Kg of mixed material per layer. The coverage rate for each layer will be strongly
  • influenced by the roughness of the substrate.
  • 1.8 kg / m2 in two coats to achieve 1 mm thickness.

Packaging : Antique Master Coat-550 is available in 10kg & 5 Kg packs and in white and grey colours.

Application Procedure :

  • Remove all loosely adhering material from the wall surface with the help of emery stone, putty blade or wire brush and clean water. The substrate should be clean, free from dust, grease and loose materials.
  • Dry and absorbent surfaces should be moistened with sufficient quantity of clean water.
  • Mix “Antique Wall Mortar” with 60-65% clean water slowly to make paste. Continue the mixing for 10-15 minutes with putty grind machine till a uniform paste is formed. After thoroughly mixing “Antique Wall Mortar” apply the first coat with Antique base mortar on already moistened wall surface from bottom to upward direction uniformly with the help of putty blade. This would ensure less wastage and proper finish. After drying of first coat of Antique base mortar just rub the surface gently with west sponge or rub the surface very gently with the putty blade in order to remove the loose particles. Allow the surface to dry for atleast 24 hours and then apply second coat of with Antique finish mortar Leave the surface to dry completely. After drying of second coat remove marks if any with the help of moist sponge or rub the surface very gently with the putty blade. Leave the surface to dry preferably for overnight. Always prepare a required quantity of putty and use it within 2-3 hrs. of mixing with water The total thickness of the coats should be limited to maximum 1.5mm. It is not essential to rub the surface done with “Antique Wall Mortar”, however if you need to remove unevenness before applying any kind of paint/distemper, gently level the walls/ceiling surface with very fine water proof emery paper of not less that 500 number to get a glossy white surface.

It is recommended not to rub “Antique Wall Mortar” strongly and harshly with rough emery paper. This breaks the film formed over “Antique Wall Mortar”, which decreases the water repellency properties. The total thickness of the coat should be limited to maximum 1.5mm. In case of fresh concrete/mortar surface it is recommended that two coats of Antique Base Mortar be apply before application of “Antique Wall Mortar”.

  • The coverage area of “Antique Base Wall Mortar” on smooth normal mortar wall is 25 to 30 Sq. Ft/Kg/mm
  • The coverage area of “Antique Finish Wall Mortar” on smooth normal mortar wall is 35 to 40 Sq. Ft/Kg/mm
  • The coverage area, however, will depend upon the quality of the substrate.

Note :

  • Generally the cause of efflorescence on the walls surface is the brick masonry, which is due to the quality of bricks, sand and water, If the effect of efflorescence on the brick masonry seems to be very high then proper care should be taken to control the efflorescence. The efflorescence problem on brick masonry if exists impairs the bonding of “Antique Wall Mortar” as is with any other product.
  •  For High Effected efflorescence walls Contact our Customer Care for solution.

Spalled concrete should be cut back to sound concrete and made good with a suitable cementitious repair mortar such as Antique Non Shrink Crack Filler. All cracks and bolt holes must be cut out and filled solid with Antique Master Coat-550 or Antique Seal-115.
  • Mixing : Antique Master Coat-550 is supplied in premeasured units and should be mixed on site utilising clean containers. Slowly add the powder to the liquid and mix, using a slow speed drill fitted with a suitable paddle. Leave the mixed material to stand for 5 minutes to allow for full saturation to take place.

Storage and Shelf life :

  • Store under cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from extremes of temperature. In tropical climates the product must be stored in an air-conditioned environment.
  • Shelf life of the powder is 6 months and liquid is 12 months when stored as recommended.

However, it is important to allow the grout to set in the joint and to let it acquire its initial set before any further cleaning. After the initial set of the grout, clean the tile surface with a pad of cheesecloth or towel dampened with minimum quantity of clean and cool water. Rub in a circular motion to further compact the grout. The remaining surface grout on the tile can also be cleaned at this time. Scrubbing pad fastened to a float works very well to remove grout from the porous tiles. Rebuff the tile surface and grout within 1-2 hours to remove all weep water and grout residue from the surface, which helps to reduce the efflorescence and to control colour variation.
  • Cleaning :
    • Polish the tiles when the job is complete with a clean dry cloth. Scrubbing the floor with hot water and soap water is the best.
    • Due to polymer content, it is advisable to clean the surface immediately after the grouting.

Precautions & Limitations :

  • Do not mix excess water.
  • Antique Tile Grout Golden cannot be used where high acid resistance is required because of its cement base.
  • The potential for efflorescence is inherent in all cement-based products and it is not to be considered as a manufacturing defect.
