Bio-Med (P) Limited was established with an abiding faith in the wisdom enshrined in the age-old saying."Prevention is better than cure" Bio-Med embarked on its noble mission of producing world-class vaccines essential to the needs of a developing country. India, with its tropical climate is quite prone to a number of diseases that sometimes assumed epidemic proportions in the past. Initially, most vaccines had to be imported at the cost of nation's self pride with a considerable foreign exchange outflow. With this background in view, the foundation stone of Bio-Med was laid on May 11, 1972. A dedicated and committed team of scientists started with research & development on animal vaccines in 1973. The company was registered & incorporated for the manufacture of vaccines to protect animals & humans against infectious diseases. BIOMED got the Drug Manufacturing license from the State Government for manufacture of Poultry Vaccines in December 1974 and became the first poultry vaccine manufacturing unit of the private sector in the country. Over the years equipped with state of the art modern facilities, technology & dedicated technical staff, Bio-Med has established its name all over India, in variety of Animal Vaccines for Poultry, Cattle & Sheep within 5 years of its establishment. Bio-Med entered into field of Human Vaccines by starting manufacture of Oral Polio Vaccine in January 1995, which now has added four more vaccines and few more are in the pipe line. The vaccines are manufactured and tested as per the highest standards possible, in full compliance with Indian Pharmacopoeias . Bio-Med had launched India's first indigenously manufactured drug Botulinum toxin Type A under the brand name BOTO Genie™ in Jan 2007. This product has far reaching uses in cosmetology, neurology, urology, orthopedics and ophthalmology etc. In 2008, we had the biggest feat of developing the World's firs Typhoid t Vi Conjugate Vaccine- Peda Typh™. This vaccine can protect babies as young as three months old who could not be protected with the hitherto available vaccines along with children and adults for much longer duration. By providing important service to the health programme of nation and its people at large, for more than 4 decades, Bio-Med vaccines have not only earned the choice of prescription of the medical and veterinary fraternity throughout Indian sub-continent, but have started creating significant mark in the International market as well.
