India is the 3rd largest producer of wheat all over world, Around 12% of wheat produced all over world is produced in India. Major wheat growing states in India are Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, New Delhi and Bihar. Wheat is a Rabi crop, it is planted during the period from October to December and it is harvested during March to April in India. Wheat is a cereal grain, is used in many forms like flour, semolina, malt, crushed or cut into cracked wheat; parboiled (or steamed), dried etc. and is major ingredient in such foods as bread, biscuits, Muesli, pancakes, pies, pastries, cakes, cookies etc.
