Eranda Moola (Ricinus Communis)

Eranda is perennial shrub and used for treating various ailments. Castor plant has anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, liver protecting and various other medicinal properties. Castor oil or eranda taila (eranda oil) is extracted from castor beans is very good laxative, anti -inflammatory and cures skin problems.For medicinal purpose the leaves and dried mature roots of plant are used. Below is given the Ayurvedic properties and action of fresh leaf and dried roots of castor. This is said to yield oil suitable only for illumination and lubrication. The other form which is grown as an annual crop has gray and brown mottled seeds, these yields oil suitable for medicinal uses. There is still another form with purple bronze leaves; it is grown only for ornaments.Castor oil massaged over the body, before bath, keeps the skin healthy & imparts sound sleep. Such oil over may be taken once in a week. Applying castor oil over hand & feet before going to sleep keeps them soft.

Bach Acorus Calamus

Bach (Acorus calamus) Calamus is found all over the world. It is a semi-aquatic perennial, which is cultivated in damp marshy places in India and Burma. The plant is big in size, with leaves in the shape of sword and yellow-green in color. Calamus is quite common in Manipur and the Naga Hills of India and is found on the edges of lakes and streams. The root of the plant has anodyne, aphrodisiac, aromatic, carminative, diaphoretic, emmenagogue, expectorant, febrifuge, hallucinogenic, hypotensive, sedative, stimulant, stomachic, mildly tonic and vermifuge properties.The root of the plant is internally used to treat bronchitis, sinusitis etc. It has the wonderful power of stimulating and normalizing the appetite. In small doses, it also serves to reduce stomach acidity. Larger doses increase stomach secretions.

Kuchala

Kuchala (Strychnous nuxvomica): -It is a medium-sized tree with a short, crooked, thick trunk. The wood is white hard, close grained, durable. Branches are irregular, covered with a smooth ash-coloured bark. Young shoots are deep green, shiny. Oppositely arranged short stalked leaves are elliptic, shiny, smooth on both sides, about 4 inches long and 3 broad. Flowers are small, greenish-white, funnel shaped, borne in small clusters at the end of branches they have a disagreeable smell. Fruit is about the size of a large apple with a smooth hard shell which when ripe is orange colored, filled with a soft white jelly-like pulp containing five seeds. The seeds are like flattened disks densely covered with closely apprised satiny hairs, radiating from the center of the flattened sides and giving to the seeds a characteristic sheen. It is recommended for upset stomach, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, intestinal irritation, hangovers, heartburn, insomnia, certain heart diseases, circulatory problems, eye diseases, depression, migraine headaches, nervous conditions, problems related to menopause, and respiratory diseases in the elderly. In folk medicine, it is used as a healing tonic and appetite stimulant. Nux vomica is a common homeopathic medicine prescribed for digestive problems, sensitivity to cold, and irritability.

Vijaysar Pterocarpus Marsupium

Vijaysar (Pterocarpus marsupium):- Vijaysar pacifies Kapha and Pitta doshas so it can be used effective for diseases related which Kapha/ Pitta or both. Vijaysar is an important big tree whose bark is very useful in disease like diabetes.It states that Sanskrit names of Vijaysar are beejak, peetsaar, peetshalak, bandhuk- pushp, priyak, sarjak and asan.It is good for skin and healthy hair. It is useful for major skin diseases like leprosy, leucoderma as well as for eczema and worm infestation. It is recommended for managing disorders related to vitiated Kapha and pitta.The height of this tree is up to 10-15 mtrs. The trunk of Vijaysar is smoky which bears vertical slits. Babool Vachellia Nilotica

Babool tree is widely seen in Arabia and West Asia. In India, it grows wild in the forests of Punjab and parts of Rajasthan. It is known for its gum, which is made from the hardened sap taken from the tree. The tree is planted for its bark, which yields the babul gum.Babul trees contain crude protein; up to 20% can be found in the leaves and up to 12% is found in the edible pods. The gum that the babul bark yields has multiple medicinal properties. Babul gum also contains Arabic acid in addition to calcium, magnesium, and potassium. The bark and leaves of babul tree contain tannin and galic acid, which gives it a bitter taste.Babul bark is considered to be effective in the treatment of eczema.
