bursting strength tester is a widely used measure of resistance to rupture in various materials. The crimp in a yarn is defined as the mean difference between the actual length of any yarn and its apparent length in the fabric after weaving . It is usually expressed as a percentage of the apparent length of the yarn in the fabric .
Determination of the crimp of yarn is carried out by marking a known length on the fabric, removing the market yarn in such a manner that it does not loose its twist, holding it between two grips at the marked points, and slowly extending it till it is subjected to a specified straightening tension . The increase in length of the yarn is determined and expressed as a percentage of marked length to obtain the value of crimp.
IKON Crimp Tester is designed to determine the crimp of yarns taken out of fabrics . One end of the yarn is held in a pivoted loading grip on which the desired tension load is applied by means of a sliding weight acting on a lever arm, while the other end is held in a movable grip which is mounted on a screw and can move along the direction of the yarn, stretching it in the process . The distance moved through by this grip gives the extension of the yarn , and can be measured on a scale fixed by the side of the grip assembly .
The loading grip is pivoted on jewel bearing and mounted on a sliding platform which can be moved towards or away from the moving grip to enable different marked lengths of yarn to be tested . The test length is indicated on a scale fixed on the base of the apparatus against a pointer fixed to the sliding platform .
The yarns is held in between the two grips and pulled by moving the movable grip away from the loading grip . The tension under which the crimp is to be determined is set on the pendulum by moving the sliding weight and is indicated on a load scale . When the yarn is under the specified tension , the pendulum lifts off its support , thus breaking a contact and turning off a low voltage indicator light . The elongation of the yarn when the light just goes off is noted , from which the value of percentage crimp can be calculated .
The apparatus is finished in grey hammer tone stoving painting and bright chrome plating to give it a corrosion resistant finish .

The ATC Digital Light Fastness Tester is used for determining the Colour Fastness to Light using a 500 W Mercury Ballast Tungsten Filament Lamp and internally phosphor coated. Digital light fastness tester is suitable for all types of textile except photochromic coloured textiles.
Principle :
A test specimen together with blue wool standards is exposed to the light from a MBTL fading Lamp. The Colour Fastness of the specimen is assessed by comparing its fastness with that of 1 8 Blue Wool Standards.
Equipment :
Digital light fastness teser consists of a hollow cylinder of metal open at both ends with an internal diameter of 18 and length of 18. A 500 W MBTL fading lamp is mounted centrally so that the light distribution is constant around the circumference. An hour meter with buzzer and hour to talizer are mounted on the base. Four specimen holders are installed at equidistance in inner circumference of cylinder along with metal sheet mask to cover half of each test specimen and the standards. As temperature may touch 800 C constant cooling arrangement with water flow is provided. A horizontal pump and water tank are included in scope of supply.

The ability of rubber products to withstand repeating flexing without developing cracks is of prime importance where such products are used in conditions undergoing repeating flexing. The flexing endurance of rubber products is determined by simulating in the laboratory the action of flexing repeatedly under standard conditions of speed, mode, and degree of flexing. One of the accepted procedure is the use of a De-Mattia Flexing Tester. This tester provides useful information about the resistance of compounds of vulcanized rubber to flex cracking when subjected to flexing. Cracks develop in that part of the surface where stresses are set up during flexing, or if that part of the surfaces initially contains a crack, cause this crack to extend in a direction perpendicular to the stress.
The IKON De-Mattia Flex Tester consists of a set of grips to hold the test specimens in two tiers with their holding faces lying in the same vertical plane. The flexing and unflexing action is provided by holding one end of the test specimens in a fixed grip and the other end in a reciprocating grip. The set of grips has two fixed grips and one large reciprocating grip positioned between them in order to flex half of the test specimens while the other half is being unflexed. The reciprocating grip is fitted with gun metal cushion which slide on hardened and ground rods made of high carbon steel. The reciprocating motion is provided by an eccentric and linkage mechanism driven by an electric motor through V-belt and pulleys. A six digit counter with reset is provided for indicating the number of test cycles undergone.
The equipment is build on a rigid cast iron base plate and finished in hammer tone painting and bright chrome plating to give it a corrosion resistant finish.
Molding dies for preparing test specimen, and jig and punch assembly for making initial crack in test specimens for crack growth test are available as optional accessories.

Tensile strength and elongation are the two prime characteristics of most of the raw materials, whether they are metals, or non metals such as foam, rubber, leather, textiles, plastic, paper or finished products such as rods, ropes, yarns, belts etc. This two properties often play a major role in determining the suitability of any raw materials for specified application. It is therefore, of utmost importance to determine these characteristics accurately, conveniently and quickly. The IKON Single yarn strength meter provides a relatively inexpensive way for determining the Tensile Strength and elongation of Cotton, Jute, Silk Yarn in single strand. They are based on constant rate of traverse principle, in which one end of the test specimen is held in a stationery grip while the other end is moved at a known fixed speed with the help of a motor, gear box and screw arrangement.
The load exerted on the stationary grip is measured by a load cell and a digital indicator. The digital indicator has a peak hold facility to indicate breaking load, tare facility for using various grips. The elongation of the test specimen is measured on a linear scale fixed on the frame of the tester which indicates the distance between the grips. Changing the belt on a set of V belt pulleys can change the speed of traverse of the lower grip.
The frame of the test is fabricated from heavy mild steel section to give it the required rigidity and strength. Various built in safety arrangements such as over and over travel protection, and automatically stopping of the motor on failure of the test specimen are provided
