Did you know that induction motors consume a large amount of current while starting up? Yes, but the problem here is that the current consumed motor can damage the motor windings. So to avoid this happening, we use the direct online starters(DOL).The DOL is the simplest type of motor starter used to start a 3 phase induction motor. The induction motor is connected across the 3-phase supply directly where the DOL starter applies the full line voltage(starting current) onto the motor terminals.
