This variety is the most common commercial lablab bean in India. It has white flowers, green pods and light colored seeds. The skin on the beans is quite tough, so is generally peeled, so the most convenient for cooking is the dal, which is already peeled.

There are two main kinds of chickpea:
DESIDesi Chickpea is small, darker seed and has a rough coat, also known as Bengal gram or kala chana or chhola boot.
KABULIKabuli chickpea is lighter in colour, larger seed and has a smoother coat.
