Modified hydro electric turbine is an innovation which can be used for generating electricity through flowing water. It is primarily designed for remote areas where it is not possible to supply electricity through conventional electricity transmission lines. The number of such locations is quite enormous in hilly & forest areas of the Western ghats, North-east, etc. The modified hydro turbine is an environmental friendly & cost effective measure for generating electricity where a continuous flow of water is available. The major components of this turbine include alternator, balance wheel & belt pulley, V-belt & V-pulley. The novelty of this innovation is that it can be also installed in the stream of running water & the design of the turbine can be customized according to the requirements.
