About Patna
The capital and the largest city of Indian state Bihar, Patna is estimated to have a population of 2 million people. Ancient Patna, which was earlier known as Pataliputra is one of the oldest uninterruptedly populated places all over the world. It was founded by the king of Magadha in the year 490 BCE. Patna city is not only sacred for one or two religions but many as there exists Jain, Hindu, and Buddhist pilgrimage centres of Vaishali, Rajgir, Nalanda, Bodh Gaya, and Pawapuri and for Sikhs also this place is very sacred for the tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was born here. Apart from this, Patna is known for being a major agricultural hub and center of trade.
Theology and Culture
There is no denying that Patna is blessed with a culture that has unceasingly grown throughout the last 2500 years of recorded history. People from different religions came here and settled as well such as Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism. Though Hindi is the official language of Patna, yet there is something different from being the Khadi Hindi as the accent varies. Apart from this language, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Braj, Maithili and many other local dialects are prevalent here. English is not spoken here, but many can understand the language. Moreover, the food of Patna is quite dissimilar and mirrors the custom carried along the history. Popular dishes of the region are inclusive of Kheer, Sewai, Sattu-Paratha, Khichdi, Halwa, Keema, and Curries. Also, the famous item for breakfast here is Litti that is prepared from flour, gram flour along with several ingredients.
