Our humble beginnings date back to 1955 when our founder Mr. Sanwal Ram Modi made his way from his native place in faraway Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) to the industrial belt of Kolkata in search of greener pastures. Armed by a B.Com and an LLB degree from Agra University and no financial backing, Sanwal Ramji, a first generation entrepreneur laid the foundation of Shiva Engineering Works, a small engineering workshop in Howrah. The early order books of the company reflected waterworks valves and fittings as per customer specifications, fire hydrants, Cast iron pipes and fittings, pipe culverts etc. Over the years Shiva Engineering Works has transformed into one of the most respected companies in the Defence, Railways and Steel sectors.
