    Basil Oil
    Botanical Name: Ocimum Basillicum
    Origin: Tropical Asia and Pacific islands
    Form: Thin and transparent fluid. 
    Scent: It whiffs a fresh, warm, spicy, herbaceous aroma. 
    Shade: Light Greenish-Yellow
    Chemical constituents: Linalool, Bornyl-acetate, Eugenol and Eucalyptol line up as major components of this oil. Methyl Chavicol is the major chemotype identified for this oil. 
    Extraction method: Basil oil is obtained via steam-distillation of fresh flowers of Ocimum Basillicum plant. 
    Mixes well with: It merrily ‘shakes hands’ with Bergamot, Citronella, Citrus Oils, Clary Sage, Geranium, Hyssop, Opopanax, Rosemary oils. 
    Unique features: Basil essential oil is a nature’s gift and comes loaded with enormous properties imbibed in it. It acts as a anti-bacterial, anti-septic, antispasmodic, carminative, cephalic, digestive, emmenagogue, expectorant, febrifuge, nervine, stimulant and stomachic. 
    Uses and benefits: 
    Therapeutic: It is used for inhalation in baths and for massages and aromatherapies. Since it is both cold and warm in nature, it has invigorating effect that is very beneficial for sluggish skin when it is used in bath or is smoothed over the body. It also helps in pepping up blood circulation in the body. 
    Medicinal: Since ancient times, Basil is a sacred plant in India and both the plant and its oil are used in ayurvedic medicines. 
    Cosmetics and Perfumery: It has been used as a filler with other vital herbs to reduce odors – both bodily and atmospheric.
