It comes from a flowering vine in the Piperaceae family. The plant from the Piperaceae family produces the fruit known as Black Pepper. People dry the fruit and use it as a spice and seasoning.
Though it originates from Southern India, people grow it today in many tropical parts of the world. It is the most traded and commonly used spice in the world.
