Digital Input Modules

For processing input signals from binary sensors or mechanical contacts from the field, Pepperl+Fuchs offers highly reliable digital input modules for use in Zone 1 explosion-hazardous areas. As part of our FB system remote IO solution, these modules feature Ex ia or Ex e terminals and are ideally suited for connecting NAMUR proximity switches, optocouplers, or volt-free contacts.
A mechanical contact or switch can also be used with an isolated barrier and mounted with parallel or serial resistors to simulate operation of a NAMUR initiator.
FB system remote IO digital inputs are available in the following versions:
2- and 3-channel versions address the needs of users that appreciate granularity of their system and easy commissioning.
8-channel versions ensure the highest possible utilization of backplanes used for module connection and enable compact remote IO solutions with large channel numbers. The modules support lead breakage detection and short circuit detection. Galvanic isolation separates the inputs from bus and power. In addition, the modules are hot-swappable which allows quick and easy module replacement without time-consuming system shutdowns.
