    Tensile strength and elongation are the two prime characteristics of most of the raw materials, whether they are metals or non metals such as Rubber, Leather, Textiles, Plastic, Paper or finished products such as Rods, Wires.     DIN ABRASION

    In DIN method of determining abrasion resistance of vulcanized natural or synthetic rubber, ; cylindrical rubber test specimen is abraded against an abrasive surface mounted on a rotatinl cylindrical drum in such a manner that abrasion takes place on one of the flat ends of the test specimel which is held against the abrasive surface under a specified load while being traversed across it. In thi method of testing abrasion; test specimen does not always move on the same path on abrasive paper but gradually a new portion of the abrasive paper appears to rotation of the drum. Amount 0 rubber reduced in the specimen due to abrasion is measured.

    OZONE CHAMBER

    This method covers the estimation of the resistance of vulcanized rubber to cracking whei I expo to an atmosphere containing ozone. The rubber specimens are kept under a surface tensile sly and the ozone content or partial pressure in the test chamber is maintained at a fixed value.
