Groundnuts

Arachis Hypogaea is a botanical name of the Groundnut. Groundnut is annul herbaceous plant and is a species in the legume or “bean” family. Groundnut is major oilseeds of India. India is the second largest producer of groundnut in the world. Groundnut is one of the popular seeds known to mankind due to its delicious, crunchy and nutty taste. The term groundnut is used in most countries of Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa, while in north and South America it is commonly known as peanut.
Indian groundnuts are available in different varieties bold or runner, java or Spanish and red skin java. Ground nut is rich source of protein, vitamin E, vitamin B, vitamin B6, copper, zinc, folate and iron. Groundnuts are used in various forms which include groundnut oil, groundnut butter, roasted and salted groundnut, boiled or raw groundnut. In India the important groundnut cultivating states are Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
