Harvesting

• Harvested in sixth month between 245-260 days
• Trim off the fibrous roots
• Remove the soil
• Overnight soaking of rhizomes
• Clean rhizomes
• Sharp bamboo splits are used in removing skin
• For 1 week rhizomes are sun-dried
• Remove outer skin with hands
• Dried out in sun for 10 days
• Rhizomes immersed in 2% lime solution

Method of planting Rhizome bits that are 15 g in weight are planted at a distance of 20 x 20 cm to 25 x 25 cm along with a depth of 4-5 cm. The seed rate of 1500 kg/ha is adopted by following the above process and making one healthy bud to face upwards.

• Clearing field in months of Feb and March
• Burn all the stubbles, weeds, etc.
