It works on the principle of corona discharge, where two plates are placedclose together and high voltage is applied. This high voltage is used to separate the ionized particles.
Ionics has developed a range of rugged voltage-current regulated power supplies in therange of 20kv to 60kv that are tailor made for these applications. The power supplies are designed to withstand intense arcing conditions which are a regular feature of theseapplications and can withstand hot and dusty environment which is very common for a separator unit.
