Iodoform

Iodoform is used in wide range of medicals industrial applocations as well as in human and animal nutrition products such as antiseptics and disinfectants, pharmaceutical intermediates, polarizing films for liquid crystal display [LCD] chemicals. Iodine derivatives are also used as organic building blocks, analytical reagents etc. Iodoform is the organoiodine compound with the formula CHI3. Iodoform a pale yellow, crystalline, volatile substance, it has a penetrating odor and, analogous to , sweetish taste. Iodoform is occasionally used as a disinfectant. Iodoform is sometimes also referred to as carbon triiodide or triiodide.
