LED street lights are the newest development in the street light industry and they form the best alternative for the traditionally used street lamps like the High Pressure Sodium, Metal Halide and Low Pressure Sodium. The LED lights have numerous advantages over the conventionally used incandescent lights as they are eco-friendly, cost efficient and energy saving in nature. They form the smarter version of outdoor lighting and they have come out into the market due to the recent developments that the LED lighting industry has seen.

The LED street lights are made up of a hundred tiny light emitting diodes that are commonly called the LEDs. Most of the cities are now using LEDs instead of the HPS, MH and LPS street lamps. Due to the recent technological improvements, the LEDs have become the favourites. The rapid changes that have come about in the lighting industry, have made the outdoor lighting system way more innovative and this can be considered as the best time to use LED lamps on our roads and highways as well as in pedestrian areas and parking lots. 1. The LED lights are very bright. They have a uniform luminance over a specific area and the temperature of colour is usually higher. This leads to better visibility at night in roads and parking lots.
2. The lights do not flicker when turned on. They turn on in an instant.
3. LED street lamps are usually directional, means that the output they produce is way more and even in nature. Over a particular surface area, they provide equal amount of brightness and so, they are comparatively brighter than HPS lamps. If you used an HPS, the requirement of light would have been higher.
4. The LED street lamps are extremely eco-friendly as they neither contains lead nor mercury or any other such metal that can be termed as hazardous. So, when the lights finally wear out, it won’t be hazardous to actually dispose off.  When the LED gets burned out, it can easily be discarded and needs no special handling process or there is no need to follow any disposal procedure. This makes the LEDs cost saving in both the environmental way and the economical way.
5. A lot lesser amount of energy is consumed by the LEDs and they give out negligible amounts of greenhouse gasses like carbon dioxide and so has a much lower carbon emission.
