Uses of corn cob
Corncob particles are highly absorptive. That characteristic combined with the all-natural, inert, biodegradable and free-flowing attributes makes corncob particles an ideal carrier for feed additives and the active ingredients of insecticides and fertilizers.
Corn cob grit is a media used for finishing, tumbling, and blasting. It is a carrier for fertilizers, insecticides, and feed additives that can absorb hazardous wastes, liquids, oils, and greases. It is also a good choice to use corn cob grit for jobs that require both an abrasive and absorbent counterpart – oils and liquids are absorbed by the grit while tumbling and finishing the surface simultaneously. Free-flowing and absorptive, corn cob grit has many uses. It has a Mohs hardness rating of 4.5 and is considered a soft abrasive. Vibratory finishing and tumbling are mass finishing processes where the abrasive and absorbent characteristics are generally both desirable. Corncob grit polishes and deburs parts and at the same time cleans and dries parts. Oils and other liquids from wet mass finishing processes are absorbed. Grade selection is typically based upon the finished surface profile desired and the diameter of any holes or cavities in the part. The selected grade should not contain particles that would lodge in part openings. Other applications include: smoke damage and residue clean-up; mold cleaning; plant maintenance; and loose and flaking paint removal. It is ideal for wood, aluminum and fiberglass substrates.
Corn Cob use as a fiber sourced in cattle & poultry feed industries. Corn Cob powder (40- 60 mesh) is used as a Carrier in Animal health products (Choline cloride 60). Corn Cob is applied directly as a deep litter bedding material for poultry industries because of its high absorbency. Corn Cob use as a filler material in, Agro-chemicals, Veterinary formuIations, Vitamin premixes etc. Corn Cob powder is biodegradable, renewable, silica- free and non-carcinogenic, Less Material,
Less Cost: Due to the maximum absorbance capacity, requiring less material 30% less than sawdust, 65% less than rice hulls, 89% less than hydrated lime. Maximum absorbency Corn Cob Powder is applied directly to the fluid to be stabilized, and allowed to soak for 4-5 times maximum absorbency. Corn Cob powder engineered to provide
superior absorption on a wide variety of fluids, including water, oil and diesel fuel. Corn Cob is applied directly as a deep litter bedding material for poultry industries.
