MIFARE cards are NXP-Semiconductor chips used in contact less smart cards and proximity cards. The name MIFARE has been derived from Mikron FARE collection system which covers seven different kinds of contactless cards.

MIFARE includes the largest collection of product made for more than 40 different application. It includes ICs for limited-use paper tickets as well as microcontrollers for dual interface smart cards with PKI engines capable of hosting multiple applications.

Suitable for adding MIFARE DESFire EV1 applications to an existing HID Prox-based access control system, the MIFARE DESFire EV1 / Prox converged credential provides a wide range of backwards compatibility with existing systems and is available with HID Prox and/or magnetic stripe technology.
