Mycorrhizal Soil

It is a mutualistic symbiotic soil fungi that do not cause root diseases but, instead, are beneficial to their almost all higher plant hosts. Since mycorrhizal fungi are obligate symbionts they form colonies on the roots of the host plant to complete life cycles. It produce hyphae, which are microscopic tubes that colonize crop roots and grow out into the soil further than root hairs. Nutrients are taken up by the hyphae and carried back to the plant. An absence of mycorrhizae in certain fields results in plant stunting and poor growth. Mycorrhizal fungi increases the ability of plants to absorb water and nutrients, such as P, K, Cu, Zn, S, N2, Ca, Al, Mg, Mn, Fe etc.

Mycorrhizae by associating symbiotically with root of the plants, increases the phosphorus uptake from low phosphorus soils and generally protect the roots against many stress conditions like drought, adverse PH, plant pathogens, low nutrition, adverse temperatures, etc. It makes the feeder roots more resistant to infection by certain soil fungi, such as Phytophthora spp., Pythium spp., Fusarium spp. and nematodes. Mycorrhizal colonization also allows the population of beneficial soil organisms like Azotobacter, Azospirillum and Phosphate solubilizing bacteria to maintain higher counts. It has also been recognized as an effective as well as potential nutrients recycling bio fertilizer for plant/soil health. It is very safe for environment, animals and human beings, etc.
