Nutmeg is used as a spice all over the world due to its warm and slightly nutty flavor. It is farmed for two spices- nutmeg and mace. Nutmeg is around 20 to 30 mm long and 15 to 18 mm wide. It is egg-shaped. A dried nutmeg is roughly 5 to 10 grams in weight. ORIGINS Nutmeg is a tropical dark-leaved evergreen tree that may reach a height up to 65 feet. Evidence of its usage goes back to 3500 years back. It is native to the Spice Island of Indonesia. It is also cultivated in West Indies. Said is that through ancient trade routes, Indians learned the use of Nutmeg from the Indonesians.
