Contact SupplierPerfect — you 're digging into the nuts and bolts of things now (literally 😄). Let’s talk about nylock nuts. 🔩 What is a Nylock Nut? A nylock nut (also known as a nylon-insert lock nut) is a locking nut that has a nylon ring (insert) built into the top portion of the nut. This ring grips the threads of the bolt when tightened. 🛠️ Main Uses of Nylock Nuts: 1. Vibration Resistance Used where vibrations might cause regular nuts to loosen. Common in automotive, machinery, aircraft, and appliances. 2. Secure Fastening Helps prevent accidental loosening without needing extra washers or thread-locking compound. 3. Reusability (to a point) Can be reused a few times, but not indefinitely — the nylon wears out with repeated use. 📦 Common Applications: Engine mounts Suspension systems Electrical panels Sports equipment (e.g., skateboards, bikes) Construction frames and brackets ⚠️ Things to Keep in Mind: Not good for high-temperature environments (>250°F / ~120°C) — the nylon can degrade. Not ideal for very high-load applications (metal lock nuts are better). Must be properly torqued to ensure the nylon engages with the threads.
