Botanical name: Allium Cepa

The onion (Allium cepa), which is also known as the bulb onion, common onion and garden onion, is the most widely cultivated species of the genus Allium. White onion is a type of dry onion that has a pure white skin and a sweet, mild white flesh. Onions are a very rich source of fructo-oligosaccharides. White Onions are very low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium. They're also a good source of dietary fiber, vitamin B6, folate, potassium and manganese, and an excellent source of vitamin C.

Onions are often chopped and used an ingredient in various hearty warm dishes, but are frequently used as a main ingredient. It make the perfect foundation for meats, poultry, soups, salads, and stew, Canned soups, salads, hamburgers, pizzas & other fast food preparations. Its powder is a spice used for seasoning in cooking.

Fried onion changes its taste and turns more sweet and aromatic; the flavor develops best after long frying in comparatively cool fat.

White onion relieves stomach upset and other gastrointestinal disorders and it will also strengthen the appetite. It helps to prevent thrombosis and reduce hypertension. It being used for compresses to be applied to the skin for acne, arthritis, and congestion, and used internally for worms.
