Phool makhana, Usage/Application : Snack or Cooking

Phool Makahana or Fox Nuts are an essential part of any fasting diet in our country. Also popular as a snack for Health and Calorie conscious this superfood is ideal for even diabetics. Makhana has been used for centuries as a snack food for it’s protein content and very low fat. The Chinese even use this wonderful product in their medicines. They are hand popped Lotus Flower seeds. They make a wonderful addition to Indian desserts such like kheer, raita or makhana curry, and are also eaten as an evening tea-time snack.  The roasted makhanas are light, crunchy and healthy and very popular snack nowadays.
