Small Onions

Shallots are otherwise known as small onions, belong to the species Allium cepa. Shallots are rich source of antioxidants such as quercetin and kemferfol and are also good source of allicin. They are also rich in Vitamin A, phridoxine, foliates, thiamin, and Vitamin C and contain lots of iron, calcium, copper, potassium and phosphorous. Shallots have milder taste and are less pungent than red onions. Its high antioxidants are good for blood pressure and cholesterol. They are used as ingredients to enhance the taste and aroma of food.
