Solar dryer’s uses air heated through solar energy collector for the purpose of drying products. Drying is basically a heat and mass transfer process in which the moisture from the surface and inside of the product is vaporized and the vapor removed by flowing air.

Solar drying or solar air heating systems is used for agricultural products, which is a traditional and widely use of solar energy. Solar drying systems are ranging from cottage industries producing small capacity cabinet dryers to very large capacity drying plants have been developed by URMI. Solar drying systems can be mainly classified on the basis of the principal mode of heat transfer employed radiative or forced convective. The type of heating collector employed, the availability of thermal storage during sun down hours, the transport medium, the rate of drying are other factors of importance for operation and cost efficiency.

In this solar dryer air is heated in solar flat plate collector place on the roof of the building or on the ground. Hot air from the solar flate plat collector is circulated in the drying chamber with help of blower. The heated air increase temperature in the dryer chamber up to 70°C. This type of solar air heating system used for the drying Agriculture product Vegetable & fruits and for low temperature drying chemical product.

He has been awarded with AMA Metrochem Outstanding Manager of Year by Ahmedabad Management Association for the year 2008.
