Sunflower seed, Storage Condition : Raw

Sunflower seeds are about 6 mm to 10 mm in length which feature a conical shape with smooth surface. Their black outer coat (hull) encloses single, gray-white edible-kernel inside. Each sunflower head may contain several hundreds of edible oil seeds. Sweet, nutty sunflower seeds are an excellent source of essential fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals. These are rich in vitamin B complex and a good source of phosphorus, magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, protein and vitamin E. Sunflower seeds act as popular immune boosters.

Delicious, nutty, and crunchy sunflower seeds are widely considered as healthy foods. These seeds can be eaten either fresh or can be cooked. Sunflower kernels are actually employed in the extraction of edible oil at commercial scale all over the world. Besides being eaten as popular snacks, they are also used in the kitchen to prepare a variety of recipes. These are often grown as ornamental plants due to their large and attractive flower heads.
