DESCRIPTION - The rapid moisture meter consists of an aluminium body fitted gauge at one end and a sealing cup at the other end held to the body by U-clamp and a clamp screw with an 'O' ring between the body and the cup. The cup can be removed from the body, by just unscrewing the clamp screw, by swinging the U-clamp to the side. The gauge is calibrated percentage of moisture content the wet weight basis. A balance is mounted on a base which is fixed in the carrying case and bring into position when required. When the catch to the left of it is moved back and the base is rotated about the swivel pin. When the balance base is set horizontal the same catch engages to keep it in that position.The balance arm is preloaded to indicate the level ( coincides with index mark when the correct weight 6 gms ) of sample is placed in the pan. Calcium carbide (reagent). Scoop for measuring reagent. Cleaning brush. Steel balls (for cohesive soils), three balls of about 10 mm diameter and one of 20 mm diameter.
