The concrete test hammer is a hand held instrument used for testing the quality of hardened concrete in a structure. On new structure, the instrument can be used to give an indication of the gain in concrete strength, while on existing structures, it can be used to gain an estimate of the uniformity of the concrete. The instrument works on the principle that the rebound of an elastic mass impacting on a surface is a function of the hardness of the structures itself.
