Shree Vishwakarma Magnets manufactures wet drum separator which is used to remove very fine magnetizable components from low concentration, low-viscosity liquids. The wet drum separator is intended for use in the metal processing industry and for the treatment of pre-concentrates extracted from the high gradientmagnetic filter. In wet drum separator, around 90% of the grain sizes ranging from 1 m to 1000 m can be separated as sludge.
General Principle:The liquid flows through a semicircular separating chamber beneath a stainless steel drum to which the magnetisable particles are attracted. The strong, high-gradient magnetic field is created by a cylinder consisting of permanent magnetic discs positioned within the drum. These special permanent magnets generate particularly high field gradients which are necessary for successful separation, as is the need with all magnetic separators.
For recovering magnetic / ferrosilicon in dense media plants and iron ores wet drum separators are primarily used. They remove contaminants from the product stream, increasing product purity and plant productivity. In the applications where the product purity is most essential, the wet drum separators can use powerful rare earth magnets which can remove very fine and weak contaminants even from dense materials.

Working Principal & Magnetic System Permanent Magnetic Drum consists of a stationary permanent magnetic assembly having a uniform and everlasting magnetic field across the entire width of the drum, which is more effective over approximately half the drum circumferences as shown in above fig.
Drum shell is made up of nonmagnetic stainless steel which revolves around the magnetic field. As the material fed evenly from the chute falls over the drum, powerful magnetic, field attract & holds ferrous particles to the revolving shell. As the revolving shell carries the iron particles through the stationary magnetic field., the nonmagnetic material falls freely from the shell while ferrous particles are firmly held until carried beyond divider and out of the magnetic field.
The biggest strength of the permanent magnetic drum is guaranteed to be greater than a corresponding electromagnetic drum. Permanent magnets used are everlasting magnets and its strength does not diminish during normal use and can be used for a long period of time after the installation.

Magnetic Materials Magnetic separators are offered with two different type of magnets.
Ferrite Magnet The magnetic separator with ceramic magnet are useful for the application where free and larger iron particles are to be separated. The average magnetic intensity on the magnetic drum surface will be 1500-2000 Gauss.
Rare Earth MagnetThe magnetic separator with high intensity Rare Earth Nd-Fe-B (Neodymium- Iron- Boron) magnets are useful for removing magnetic contamination with low magnetic properties and fine iron particles are to be separated. The average magnetic intensity on the drum surface will be 3500 – 5500 Gauss.

Manufactures suspended permanent magnetic over band separators that are designed to eliminate tramp metal from the product carried by a belt, vibratory feeders or by inclined planes. Overbands are mainly used to protect machines such as crushers, shredders, and others, to remove ferrous particles and purify products (Industries like Foundries, Coal Mines, Cement Works, Food, Sponge Iron, Charcoal, Glass, Chemical Industries and Domestic waste recycling Plants). Permanent magnetic over band separators are used when an automatic removal of ferrous contamination is necessary. If not then fixed permanent suspension magnets are more preferable.
Salient Features :While choosing the type overband there are few parameters which have to be extracted like the speed of the belt, the nature of the product, its density, its granulometry and the size of the pieces.
Construction :Two U-section pieces are fixed on the Magnet by Fastening ears and are supporting bearings of Drums. Drums are equipped with shafts mounted on removable hubs. All bearings equipped with stakes for tightening the belt.
The belt is driven by a Reduction Gear Coupled to Electric Motor / Geared Motor by Vee- belts.
Magnet Unit :The Magnet is made of High-Intensity Strontium Ferrite / Rare Earth Magnets and is guaranteed for the Magnetic Power throughout the life of the installation. A Non Magnetic Stainless steel Plate is provided to cover the poles of Magnet. There is no need for any electrical supply or maintenance.
Installation:These units can be installed either in-line over the terminal head pulley (Fig 1. ), or transversal to the conveyor (Fig 2). In both cases, it is necessary to foresee Non- Magnetic products under the Magnetic Field.
The most effective position is inline (Fig 1) over the head pulley. The material being conveyed is in virtual Suspension and Tramp Iron is, therefore, more readily extracted.
Very good results are obtained by combining a Permanent Magnetic Overband with Permanent Magnetic Pulley at the discharge end.
Our magnetic grills are made up of stainless steel which provides a high-intensity, high-gradient magnetic field to remove ferrous metals from free-flowing materials. It is available in square, round and rectangle as per client requirements.

How Eddy Current Separator WorkIn eddy current separator there is a short belt of conveyors that has its drive located at the return end and a high-speed magnetic rotor system installed at the discharge end. A magnetic rotor, which is positioned within a separately rotating non-metallic drum, revolves high speed during operation whilst the outer drum cover rotates at the speed of the eddy currents belt conveyor. While rotor spins at these high speeds at that time electric current is induced into conducting metals. The induced electric current produces a magnetic field, which opposed the field created by the rotor, repelling the conducting metals over a pre-positioned splitter plate. The remaining materials such as plastics, glass, and other dry recyclables will simply free-fall over the rotor, separating them from the repelled metals.
FunctionsThe eddy current effect appears if non-ferrous conductors of electricity are exposed to a magnetic alternating field. The eddy currents, in turn, generate magnetic fields whose flux are opposed to the fields generating them, thus causing repulsive forces which discharge nonferrous metals out of the material flow.

When material flows onto the drum, a stationary magnetic assembly inside the unit's shell captures tramp metal and holds it securely to the drum's stainless steel surface. With contaminants removed, the good product falls freely to a discharge point. As the drum rotates, cleats sweep the ferrous debris through and out of the magnetic field. The tramp metal is discharged separately, creating continuous self-cleaning separation.

Application
Working PrinciplePut ON all stages of assemblies starting from bottom assembly first & then middle & then top. Start the vibratory feeder & regulate the flow of material through hopper outlet. Synchronize the RPM of all stages of assembly with VFD unit with that of vibratory feeder for smooth uniform layered material flow over the rollers.
The rotating magnetic roller separates the iron contamination from the material with the help of splitter. The iron contamination can be collected in a tray. The good material can be collected in the bags from the discharge chute. As it is a self cleaning magnetic system it reduces the man power required during operation & hence increases the productivity.
