Equipped with a microprocessor-based temperature controller, the unit includes a digital display, temperature recorder, and audio-visual alarms for high/low temperature, door ajar, and power failure. The refrigerator uses a hermetically sealed compressor and forced air circulation system for uniform cooling throughout the cabinet. Adjustable stainless steel drawers or shelves accommodate standard blood bags, typically with a capacity range from 50 to 500 bags, depending on the model.
Additional features may include a battery backup for controller and alarms, locking doors for security, caster wheels for mobility, and optional data logging or printer output for compliance and monitoring.
