American Japanning was hired by a customer in the gun industry to custom coat a spring used in a gun magazine. This is an ongoing large volume project, in progress for over 2 ½ years with a special set up at our facilities in order to fulfill the demand. The most common dimensions for the spring are 1 ¾” in width by 15” in length, and it is composed of a black oxide stainless steel. The spring is prepped for treatment with an adhesion spray and solvent cleaning procedure, and a primer and base coat is applied. The final orange colored coat is spray painted on, for an oil coated material finish. The part is visually inspected to certify coating quality and consistency.
