Introduction

Cow Dung Manure is composted dung from animals like Cow, bufallo, bulls etc. This material is readily available at backyards of many farmers. Many times farmers use Raw cow dung as its readily available, It is also rich in Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potassium. It also enhances soil texture, structure, water retention. The major issue with raw cow dung is it has pathogens and weed seeds and we do not recommand to use this directly as manure.

The Cow dung when composted undergoes a thermophilic process which kills most of the pathogens as well as plant seeds, so there will be less risk of weed seed propogation as well as pathogen transmission. During composting process the plant nutirent breaks down into simple nutrient rich materials. It also reduces odour of Cow dung.
