  • Shape Rectangular, Square
  • Thickness 100-200mm, 200-300mm, 400-500mm
  • Length 1000-2000mm, 2000-3000mm, 3000-4000mm, 4000-5000mm
  • Application Construction, Industry
  • Width 1-50mm, 100-150mm, 150-200mm, 200-250mm
  • Technique Cold Drawn, Forged
  • Dimension 1500-2000mm, 500-1000mm

Applications:

  • Typical applications include:
  • Rolling element bearings
  • Valve seats
  • High quality knife blades
  • Surgical instruments
  • Chisels

Heat Treatment:

  • Annealing – Full anneal – 850-900°C, slow furnace cool to about 600°C and then air cool. Sub-critical Annealing – 735-785°C and slow furnace cool.
  • Hardening – Heat to 1010-1065°C, followed by quenching in warm oil or air. Oil quenching is necessary for heavy sections. Immediately temper at 150-370°C to obtain a wide variety of hardness values and mechanical properties as indicated in the accompanying table.
  • Tempering in the range 425-565°C is to be avoided because of reduced impact resistance and corrosion resistance. Tempering in the range 590-675°C results in lower hardness (the product become machinable) and high impact resistance.

Welding:-If welding is necessary pre-heat at 250°C and follow welding with a full anneal. Grade 420 filler will give a high hardness weld (although not as high as the 440C), but 309 or 310 will produce soft welds with higher ductility.

Mild Steel Pipes

Mild Steel (MS) pipes are manufactured using low carbon (less than 0.25%) steel. Due to low carbon content the pipes do not harden and are easy to use. As MS Pipes are made from mild steel they can easily be welded and formed in various shapes and sizes for pipelining and tubing purposes. These are generally used for drinking water supply i.e. Plumbing, Firefighting, HVAC but can also be used in various other Industrial and Engineering applications. These pipes are usually coated with other metals/paints/varnish etc to prevent it from rusting but extra care should be taken to prevent it under extreme conditions.

STAINLESS STEEL NUTS:

A nut is a type of fastener with a threaded hole. Nuts are almost always used opposite a mating bolt to fasten a stack of parts together. The two partners are kept together by a combination of their threads' friction, a slight stretch of the bolt, and compression of the parts. In applications where vibration or rotation may work a nut loose, various locking mechanisms may be employed: Adhesives, safety pins or lock wire, nylon inserts, or slightly oval-shaped threads. The most common shape is hexagonal, for similar reasons as the bolt head - 6 sides give a good granularity of angles for a tool to approach from (good in tight spots), but more (and smaller) corners would be vulnerable to being rounded off. Other specialized shapes exist for certain needs, such as wing nuts for finger adjustment and captive nuts for inaccessible areas.

Nuts are graded with strength ratings compatible with their respective bolts; for example, an ISO property class 10 nut will be able to support the bolt proof strength load of an ISO property class 10.9 bolts without stripping. Likewise, SAE class 5 nuts can support the proof load of an SAE class 5 bolt, and so on.

A wide variety of nuts exists, from household hardware versions to specialized industry-specific designs that are engineered to meet various technical standards.

STAINLESS STEEL WASHERS:

A washer is a thin plate (typically disk-shaped) with a hole (typically in the middle) that is normally used to distribute the load of a threaded fastener, such as a screw or nut. Other uses are as a spacer, spring (Belleville washer, wave washer), wear pad, preload indicating device, locking device, cover up engineering mistakes, and to reduce vibration (rubber washer). Washers usually have an outer diameter (OD) about twice the width of their inner diameter (ID).

Washers are usually metal or plastic. High quality bolted joints require hardened steel washers to prevent the loss of pre-load due to Brinelling after the torque is applied.

Rubber or fibre gaskets used in taps (or faucets, or valves) to stop the flow of water are sometimes referred to colloquially as washers; but, while they may look similar, washers and gaskets are usually designed for different functions and made differently.

Washers are also important for preventing galvanic corrosion, particularly by insulating steel screws from aluminium surfaces.

Types of Washers:

  • Plain Washers
  • Spring Washers

Alloy 20 Flange

Alloy 20 (UNS N08020) is an austenitic, nickel-iron-chromium based super alloy with additions of Copper and Molybdenum which provide resistance to hostile environments, pitting, and crevice corrosion. It is also stabilized with Columbium to minimize carbide precipitation during welding. Alloy 20 appears to fall between both the stainless and nickel categories as it contains characteristics of both. It was designed for maximum resistance to acid attack and demonstrates superior resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in boiling 20% to 40% sulfuric acid, and also has excellent general corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid and to chloride stress corrosion cracking. Alloy 20 has good mechanical properties at both ambient and elevated temperatures, up to approximately 930F (500C) and is readily fabricated by usual industrial processes.

Incoloy 800, 800h, and 800ht are nickel-iron-chromium alloys with great quality and incredible resistance to oxidation and carburization in high-temperature presentation. These nickel steel alloys are identical with the exception of the more elevated amount of carbon in composite 800h, and the expansion of up to 1.20 percent aluminum and titanium in compound 800ht. Incoloy 800 was the first of these alloy and it was somewhat altered into Incoloy 800h. This adjustment was to control carbon (.05-.10%) and grain size to advance anxiety burst properties. Incoloy 800ht has further alterations to the joined titanium and aluminum levels (.85-1.20%) to guarantee ideal high temperature properties.the nickel compound is double confirmed (800h/HT) and joins together the properties of both forms. incoloy 800h/HT alloy was proposed for high temperature structural applications. The nickel substance makes the alloy very impervious to both chloride stress-consumption breaking and to embrittlement from precipitation of sigma stage. The general corrosion resistance is superb. In the result tempered condition, alloys 800h and 800ht have unrivaled crawl and anxiety break properties. Today, most suppliers, including Harsh steel, just convey the dual certified 800h/HT compound.
Incoloy 800 is principally utilized within applications with temperatures up to 1100° F, where alloys 800h and 800ht are ordinarily utilized as a part of temperatures above 1100° F where resistance to crawl and burst is needed. The compound equalization permits the nickel steel alloy to show fabulous resistance to carburization, oxidation and nitriding climates. Incoloy 800ht won't get to be embrittled much after long times of use in the 1200-1600° F range where numerous stainless steels get to be fragile.Excellent cold structuring qualities ordinarily connected with the nickel-chromium alloys are displayed with 800ht. At the point when frosty framed widely the grain size delivers an obviously undulated surface called "orange peel". Incoloy 800ht could be welded by the regular methods utilized on stainless steels.

D2 Steel Properties

D2 steel is an air hardening, high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel. It has high wear and abrasion resistant properties. It is heat treatable and will offer a hardness in the range 55-62 HRC, and is machinable in the annealed condition. D2 steel shows little distortion on correct hardening. D2 steel’s high chromium content gives it mild corrosion resisting properties in the hardened condition.

If you need better machinability then consider A2 tool steel which has a chromium content of 5% and is more readily machinable.

Typical applications for D2 Steel:

  • Stamping or Forming Dies
  • Punches
  • Forming Rolls
  • Knives, slitters, shear blades
  • Tools
  • Scrap choppers
  • Tyre shredders

Forging:

Heat slowly and uniformly to 700°C then more rapidly to 900/1040°C. Do not continue to forge D2 below 925°C. Reheat as often as necessary to maintain proper forging temperature. After forging cool slowly. This is not an annealing process. After the forging is cold, it must be annealed as described below.

Annealing:

Heat uniformly to 843/871°C, then slow furnace cool at a rate of not more than 10°C per hour. After annealing D2 a maximum hardness of 240 Brinell may be achieved

Hardening:

D2 tool steel is extremely sensitive to overheating during hardening – do not overheat.

Pre heat slowly to 750/780°C and soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 1000/1030°C and allow the component to equalise. Quench in oil or cool in air.

Tempering:

Heat uniformly and thoroughly to the desired temperature and hold for 25 minutes per cm of thickness. D2 can be double tempering at approximately 15°C below the first tempering, after intermediate cooling to room temperature.
