Tensile Testing Machine For Paper (Electronic Model) - Tensile strength and elongation are the two most important properties that determine the suitability of any material for a particular application. These properties are determined with the help of a tensile testing machine. The load range and rate of elongation are selected depending on the characteristics of the materials being tested. The Tensile Testing Machine for paper is suitable for determining tensile strength and elongation of paper and similar materials. It is based on constant rate of traverse principle, in which one end of the test specimen is held in a grip attached to a load measuring device and the other end is held in a grip which is made to move at a fixed speed with the help of a motor, worm reduction gearbox, and screw arrangement. The load exerted on the test specimen is measured with the help of a load cell and digital load indicator. The load indicator has a facility of retaining peak force applied on the test specimen in its memory to indicate the breaking load of the specimen. An overload relay is provided to stop the motor automatically in case of overload. The equipment also has an arrangement to stop the movement automatically at any pre-set separation of the grips. The traverse of the moving group is indicated on a digital readout to facilitate determination of elongation. The speed of traverse of the moving grip can be changed by changing the position of a V-belt in a set of cone pulleys.
