Swell Test Apparatus.
It is designed to determine the swelling pressure developed by soil specimens moulded to desired densities at knows moisture contents when soaked in water.

To know C.B.R. Values in situ, it is useful in determining the load carrying capacity in the field when in-place density and water contents are such that the degree of sturation is 80 % or greater,
when material is conhensionless and coarse grained, such that it is not effected by changes in water contents and when the material has been in-place for considerable time. Direct Shear Test Apparatus.
The Direct Shear test apparatus consist of a square or circular box divided into two halves. The specimen, contained in the box, is subjected to a constant normal load while an increasing horizontal force is applied to one of the sections of the shear box. This force causes a shear failure along the juncture between the box sections of this. The shear force and the normal load are measured directly. Now a days almost every soil laboratory conducts compaction and penetration tests on soils. In both standard and heavy compaction tests the operator has to count the number of blows of the rammer on each layer of soil during compaction. A mechanically cum electrically operated semi-automatic compactor is therefore devised to eliminate hand compaction process. Which also considerably saves time with the rammers provided two stroke lengths, available, the compactor can be used for normal compaction / heavy compaction as well as C.B.R compaction. Unconfined Compression Test Apparatus.
The unconfined compression test apparatus for soil includes uniaxial compression test in which the test specimen is provided with no lateral support while undergoing vertical compression.
