Our Products
We offer a complete product range of Xylene
Product Details
Xylene (dimethylbenzene) is a colorless, clear aromatic liquid formed when two hydrogen atoms on a benzene ring are substituted with methyl groups. It has a boiling point range of 137-140C. Based on the relative positions of the two methyl groups, xylene exists in three isomeric forms: ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, and para-xylene. Industrially, xylene typically denotes a mixture of these three isomers along with ethylbenzene. The commercial grades are generally classified as premium or first grade, with purified water distillation ranges of either 3C or 5C according to Chemicalbook standards.
This compound is completely miscible with ethanol, chloroform, or ether but does not dissolve in water. It finds extensive application as an organic solvent and in the production of pharmaceuticals, paints, resins, dyes, explosives, and pesticides. Xylene exhibits moderate toxicity and possesses some carcinogenic potential. Environmental contamination by xylene primarily originates from synthetic fibers, plastics, fuels, rubber products, various paint additives, adhesives, waterproofing materials, as well as from fuel combustion emissions and tobacco smoke.
