Excellent in aroma and taste: - After cooling this rice has a mild sweet smell and is
very tasty to eat, especially as khijuri or pies and festivals rice.
Small and Coarse: - Rice is grains are small, round and relatively coarse.
Season of Cultivation: - It is an Amon rice, i.e. sown during monsoon (Jun - July) and
harvested around November - December.
Low Height Trees: - The height of trees is usually 80-100 cm, so, they do not easily
lean to the ground.
Relatively low yield: The yield is slightly lower than hybrid or modern varieties, but
its market price is very high because of its taste and aroma.
Sensitivity: somewhat sensitive to whether changes, so needs to be cultivated with
care.
Soil requirement: Generally good in loam or moderately fertile soil, drainage is
required.
