In an agrarian economy like India, agriculture occupies a key place in the programme of economic development. For rural Indians, agriculture has become a way of life. This sector is contributing nearly 50 percent of the National income and plays a significant role in the over-all development of this country.
Arecanut (Areca Catechu Linn) is an important commercial crop in India and is popularly known as “BETTLENUT” or “SUPARI”. It is commodity of conventional, commercial and economic importance. While the conventionality is directed by societal values in the Asian context, the commerciality is ensured by the fact that it contributes about 21,000 crores of rupees to the gross National product. Besides this, its economic importance is witnessed by 6.25 million of people who make their livelihood through areca industry. The cultivation of arecanut can be traced from the vedic period.
Till today, areca cultivation has maintained its unique nature of labour intensive system. Problems of labour has created the urgent need and necessary of labour saving appliances. Generally, In case of tendered nuts, husking process is taken soon after the harvest within 4 days. If it is delayed, quality will suffer. These days farmers are facing problem of getting specialized labours for this work done right in time.
The dearth of skilled labourers and the increasing wages that motivated Mr .Vishwanath to embark upon a machine to peel arecanuts. Born into an agriculturist’s family at Kuntavalli village near Melige in Thirthahalli taluk, Mr. Vishwanath took this challenge when he was studying Diploma in Mechanical engineering at Sahyadri Polytechnic .
When his friends preparing for their final semester Diploma exams, Mr. Vishwanath Launched His first cost effective automatic areca nut peeler(areca De Husker Machine) on Wednesday, Feb 20, 2002.With appreciation from Family members, friends, areca growers and some co-operative societies in the Malnad region, Mr. Vishwanath found V-Tech Engineers in 2006 as a proprietorship firm at his native Kuntuvalli and only their clients word of mouth marketing praising the quality and professional ethic adopted by V-Tech Engineers.
Currently the V-Tech Engineers is into Manufacturing and improving their own product ARECA De HUSKER Machine, Hydraulic based dumper, General engineering works, Casting & Fabrication works.
