COPPER SULFATEis an inorganic compound that's used in a variety of applications, including agriculture, industry, and medicine:

·        Agriculture

Usedasa fungicide,algaecide,root killer,andherbicide. Itcanalsobemixedwithfertilizersor used as a foliar application.

·        Industry

Usedintheproductionoftextiles,leather,wood,batteries,ink,petroleum,paint,andmetal. It's alsousedasanelectrolyteincopperrefiningandforcoppercoatingsteelwire.

·        Medicine

Usedasamedicationtotreatcopperdeficiency. Itcanalsobeusedtodeterminehemoglobin levels in blood.

·        Otherapplications

Usedasa dryingagent, anadditivefor fertilizersandfoods,andas ananimalnutritional supplement.

Copper sulfate is a combination of sulfur and copper. It's toxic, and too much copper sulfate can damage the skin, stomach, intestines, and respiratory tract. Freshwater fish and invertebrates are especially sensitive to copper.

Coppersulfatecanappearasapale blue powder,crystalline,orgranular material. Anhydrous copper sulfate is grey-white and powdery, while the pentahydrate form is bright blue.

The pentahydrate of this compound, CuSO4. 5H2O is used as a fungicide due to its ability to kill several fungi. Copper sulfate is used in Benedict's solution and in Fehling's solution, which is usedin testing forreducing is also used to test blood samples for diseases like anaemia.
