maximum protection by thin coatings. The requirements for corrosion protection in the automotive industry and in many other fields of activity are satisfied with a geomet coating thickness between 5 and 10 µm. This low thickness allows the treatment of most standard threaded fasteners without any difficulty.
control of the torquetension relationship. The friction coefficient of the coating is an important parameter to control the torquetension of the threaded joint. The integrally lubricated geomet 500 enables an average coefficient of friction of 0.12 to 0.18 to be obtained without further lubrication.
no hydrogen embitterment. The geomet technology ensures that the coating is applied without any risk of hydrogen embitterment because it is a non-electrolytic process.
cyclic corrosion tests. The results of all cyclic corrosion tests carried out according to the different test methods used by the automotive industry.
bimetallic corrosion resistance. Geomet behaves very well in contact with aluminium and zinc and performs as well as other zinc-based coatings in contact with copper, stainless steel or magnesium.
electrical conductivity. The high concentration of metallic flakes enables geomet coated parts to be electrically conductive. It allows for the use of electro-coated paints.
paint ability. Geomet can be over-coated by most organic coatings and more particularly by those applied by electro deposition.
