Jont pro is a unique ayurvedic preparation containing extracts of herbs reputed in Ayurveda for easing joint pain.  It helps body provide greater control of osteoarthritis (OA) or rheumatoid arthritis (RA) joint pain. Its primary ingredient Boswellia serrata lessen joint pain, stiffness, and swelling associated with RA. Boswellic acid, the major constituent of Boswellia, is thought to contribute to most of the herb's pharmacological activities. In vitro studies and animal models show that boswellic acid inhibits 5-lipoxygenase selectively and has anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic and anti-proliferative effects. Boswellia reduces chemically induced edema and inflammation in rodents. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, Boswellia demonstrated a beneficial effect on knee osteoarthritis. Thirty patients were given either 1,000 mg Boswellia daily or placebo in three divided doses for eight weeks. Patients in the Boswellia group experienced a significant decrease in pain and swelling and increase in the range of motion compared to placebo (p < 0.001). Other ingredients of this formulation such as Ashwagandha, Yastimadhu, Bala, Guduchi, and Punarnava reduce joint inflammations by acting on the immune system. Further herbs such Ashwagandha, sunthi, and Guduchi clear Ama, toxins which gets harbored in joints and acts as a foreign substance and triggers the immune system. Mandukparni improves the health of cartilage.
