Rice is extensively consumed in Southern parts of India. Rice is a relatively good source of energy, carbohydrates, calcium, iron, pantothenic acid, folate and vitamin E. Major rice milling and trading centres for rice in the state are Gangavathi, Sindhanur, Bhadravati, Davangere, K R Nagar, Holenarasipura etc. APMC Yard Yashwanthpura, Bengaluru is the main terminal market or trading centre for rice.
