What it is:
A rich halwa made by roasting ground moong dal slowly in ghee, thenfinishing with milk or water and sugar.
Taste:
Rich, roasted, nutty and heavily indulgent, with a deep ghee aroma.
General ingredients:
Moong dal, ghee, sugar, milk or water, cardamom, nuts, saffron in some versions.
Color & texture:
Yellow, saffron or deep golden; thick, spoonable and grainy-smooth.
Typical shelf life:
About 2-3 days at room temperature, or 7-10 daysrefrigerated.
